CAMPAIGN for the renewal of the DINING HALL

Making the Impossible Possible

This unique summer camp was founded in 1951 on an idyllic 19-acre property along the shores of Lake Massawippi in the Eastern Townships. Originally known as Mackay Centre Camp, the camp welcomes youth with a variety of physical and sensory disabilities – including campers with mobility and movement challenges, who are Deaf, blind or visually impaired, or who are non-verbal. It is the only bilingual summer camp in Quebec for this population. For almost 70 years, Camp Massawippi has provided thousands of campers with the opportunity to embark on a journey of self-discovery and to live extraordinary experiences that are typically out of their reach.

Transforming the Dining Hall

The existing Dining Hall has served our campers well for 70 years. The building requires an injection of love and renewal in order to face the challenges of the future. Our plans are to enhance the dining hall to better serve the campers, their evolving needs, and the new realities of COVID-19. The new design will accommodate the evolving dietary and mobility needs of the campers. It will retain the warm rustic camp character and preserve the spirit of campers and staff from years past recorded on the plaques that adorn the walls.
