Aselin
Hi, my name is Aselin.
I am 8 years old. I got my hearing aids when I was 3. My mom and dad were worried that I would not be able to do everything I wanted to do but I taught them that I could do anything I wanted to.
I have been going to the MAB-Mackay Centre since I was 3. When I was younger I was doing speech therapy and played games with my audiologist Maryse.
I started a dance called Irish Dancing when I was 4 years old. When I started, a lot of people thot that I wodnt be good at Irish Dancing but I proved to them that I can do anything I want to do and it dosnt matter what is different about you. Actually it is good to be different because it would be weird if everybody was the same. I proved that too!
In November, I won the Eastern Canadian Champion for Irish Dancing. And at school I am one of the tops in my class.
One time we went to the movies and a lady was really mad at her children because they were not listening, She yelled “what is wrong with you. Do you need hearing aids?” My mom was worried that I would get upset but I just laughed and said “I guess she doesn’t now you can have hearing aids and still not listen.”

Another time I was at the park and a lot of peoples were asking me what are my hearing aids and I was mad, so I went to my mom and I said mommy I am mad and my mom said well, why are you mad? And I said peoples are asking me what are my hearing aids and I just want to play!
The MAB-Mackay Centre has been very nice to me. They helped me with talking and hearing better. So for the last 3 years my sister and I had a lemonade stand, and we gave the money to the MAB-Mackay. We made about 50 dollars each year. I wanted to give them the money because I saw other kids who the MAB-Mackay was helping and I wanted to help them too.
Thank you for helping the MAB-Mackay Centre because it’s an important place for me, my family and lots of other people.
